This class was a very interesting exploration of climate science, a topic I have been exposed to my entire life but have never dug this deep into. One of the key purposes of the class was to challenge a notion held by some climate change deniers that the Earth's current period of warming is nothing but part of a natural climate cycle. Using data from arctic ice cores and other environmental time capsules, we explored models of the Earth's climate throughout its history, focusing on periods of extreme warm or cold, and then examined the evidence strongly suggesting that this current period of warmth is far to extreme and rapid to be merely natural.
